On Monday, Cloe and Brody went with me to their school to check it out and I had to go get all the information. They met the nuns (suora) saw their classes and played on the playground which they loved. Oh and they got their uniforms! So ugly but they all are. With Italy being such a fashion capitol you'd think Dolce and Gabbana could style something up for us. But the list of items to bring was a little different. For the first day of school, they needed, 2 rolls of paper towels, 2 bottles of soap, a package of tissue and a toothbrush and toothpaste. oh, and a plastic cup. alright. And it was great to have the nuns explaining things to me in full Italian sentences. All I could do was nod like I understood. Not only is it hard to not understand everything they say but I also have no experience with the school system so I don't know how things are normally ran. I'll figure it out soon :)
Ryan's parents got here on the 12th so his mom came with us to drop them off. We caught the city bus at 8:05 and took em' to school. I just kind of searched for kids in their same uniform because the different ages wear different uniforms. They were on the playground and they had no problem with us leaving them. we gave kisses and Ryan's mom got a little weepy. I wasn't a very good mom because I didn't cry. We picked them up at 12:30 and they seemed to have had a good time and I also liked the morning with less kids. sad but true. I don't think they did much but play, so when school really starts with their teacher (who isn't a nun) we'll see how they do.

Wow. That's all I can say about the uniforms. Wow.
Oh my gosh, I love those uniforms! On my mission all the kids wore white ones. When my parents came to "pick me up" they thought, "are these little butchers in training or what?"
They are so funny, but I think it's sort of endearing. Something you understand a little bit after living in a foreign country, maybe?
melinda, that is so true, hospital gowns ha! careful, eliza may have to wear them in china.
holly, that cracks me up!!! Some days when I'm lost in my own thoughts I will laugh out loud to myself thinking of your parents "are these little butchers in training?"
"I wasn't a very good mom because I didn't cry."
you always (always always) manage to make me laugh out loud!
Dang it katrina! you stole my comment! This is what I was planning on saying "Wow, those are quite the uniforms. Wow." I swear that's what I was planning on writing.
I cannot beleive those are uniforms...crazy. I was expecting an ugly plaid or something, not a dress/raincoat/oversized T-shirt. I hope you enjoy the quiet while they are at school.
Too funny, too, too funny.
YOU'RE children-
in Italy-
with nuns.
I remember you telling me you'd taken some ballet, probably when we'd chat at Smith's. I wish I were taking the class at Saddleback with Mrs. Haas, but I can't ever do the time she has offered. I'm telling you, this lady I have now-CHARACTER! I'm glad you understand about the awkwardness of the pink tights and black leotard.
I just finished Eclipse and I'm still debating posting about my thoughts on Bella's indecisiveness. We'll see. Now I need another good book!
Obviously great minds think alike, Lindsey.
can my highschool kids get that uniform?? wow...craziness!
Courtney, I just read your comment on Melinda's blog and was SERIOUSLY thinking about giving you my email so I could email you the link to my private blog. I didn't know if I could handle the rejection if you weren't interested. HAAA!!!!!

I have looked at your blog through Shauna's and love your life! Look at your kids going to school with a nun as a teacher! It looks like you live in this quiet Italian village with Mother Theresa living down the street. Your life is like a movie. It's so "Life is Beautiful-ish" Love it! I enjoy your blog. Email me so you can enjoy my exciting "I live in the concrete jungle of California but long to live in the hillsides of Italy" blog. See ya!
Those are funny looking, but hey who cares!? They are going to school in Italy! And, maybe less laundry for you?!!!! Miss you guys!
