and they're off

After a summer of begging from the kids to have their training wheels taken off. And mom getting sick of saying "okay, ask Dad, he'll do it with his tools". I finally did it today. I think Ryan kept putting it off because he didn't want to teach them how to ride and have kids come home with scraped knees. Off course Brody would go above and beyond the average scraped knee.
I took Brody's off first because Cloe was playing so sweet with her little sis, and only did 2 runs with him. It was too hard to bend over with my fat belly and then trying to keep up with him while he peddled was just hindering his efforts. So he just hopped on the bike by himself and took off. When Cloe came out, Ryan told her to get on the bike and ride it. And she just took off. Why do we hold our kids back? What else are they missing out on because we don't think they're ready? I love the look of accomplishment and pride on their face when they figure out new things.

What, no scraped knees or anything? Nice work! I loved this post, so true. I forget how capable kids are.

Anders learned to ride his bike last summer and I love it. I love it because he's not sitting on his butt all day, and he and his best friend ride and ride all over the place. It's just so boy and adorable to me.

Antonia will be sooo jealous! She managed about 3 feet on Matilde's bike with no stabilisers, then stopped peddling and fell off!

Thinking of you today - my friend had her baby "girl" this morning - it's a boy!! So if your's is definitely a girl I've some spare clothes going now !!!!
