so much to blog about, so little time (and a huge lack of picture taking)

My dear friend from Alaska is still visiting but leaves Friday and I get so sad every time I think about it. Anyways, in Alaska, Ikea doesn't exist. When we lived in Florence, Ikea was Heaven for me. It was a way to escape Italy for a while because Ikea was everything Italy wasn't. Soooo family friendly and cheap. Well if you don't know, childcare at Ikea for an hour is FREE. We felt like going shopping but not with all the kids (8 total), so I suggested Ikea and their wonderful child care. While I was waiting for my friend to arrive, I noticed a sign that said starting today, kids eat free. awesome. So the kids ate free, I had a free babysitter for an hour and I got to roam the wonderful land of ikea. I needed that child free time. It was weird all the memories that started to come back when I was there because the Florence Ikea is my only Ikea experience and so I associated it with Italy. Took a quick moment of silence and then got lost in a Swedish paradise. Thank you Ikea, I still love you.

I think that if every country had an IKEA we could have world peace.

You are so funny. I feel the same about IKEA. When we were in Florence it was a little taste of modernization, but at the same time I hated it. Mostly because it was the biggest pain to get all of our stuff home. Now when I go there, it's like my little taste of Italy, even though it's a Swedish store. IKEA will always be my little Italian outlet. We should go hang there together sometime and pretend we're in Florence:). I hope you had a great birthday!!
