I'm getting her excited about eating at Wahoo's.
Oh what a relief to step off the plan into 70 degree weather. So, so , so nice. The whole weekend was beautiful and warm. Filled with good food, Wahoo's 3 times, and some quality time with my dad. Charlotte was a good little traveler for her first flight. Even though I grew up in CA, I always tell Ryan I could never live there again because it's so crowded. I'm used to having open land after being in UT but you can't beat all the restaurant options in CA. There are far more perks about living there, but the crowds are too much.
I found a new hobby I enjoy, walking through the Open Houses in Newport Beach. This was one of my favorites on Lido Island. The downstairs was nice but then you go upstairs and it was huge. And it had a salt water pool and hot tub. I felt right at home in this one and could move in tomorrow. But the photos for both of them do not do them justice. They were pretty amazing.

CA

my poor little boy. and husband
Late last night Ryan and I got home from CA to 3 cute kids and one pretty sick kid. Brody's face and neck were pretty swollen in a kind of scary way, so we decided to take him to the ER. We didn't get to our house until 11:10 pm, so the ER was our only option. Ryan took him, got there at 12 am and didn't get home until 6:30!!! I woke up at 6:20 to nurse Charlotte and was shocked that Ryan wasn't in bed. I felt guilty that it was him and not me. I guess that's a Mom thing. So after no sleep, a CT scan, IV, and blood work, they said it was strep throat. But tomorrow I have to take him to the ear, nose, throat Dr. It can't be just strep. It scares me to see him with a swollen face. And it's funny to hear him talk about his hospital experience. He went through a donut, the IV burned and he watched cartoons on Dad's ipod. They put him on tylenol codeine for the pain. poor guy. Can you tell the difference between his face on Saturday and today?

rekindling that competitive spirit

I finally have an infamous Rex Lee Run shirt after 7 years of living here. It was my first race in a while. And my first since having a baby. The endurance was pretty much lacking. But I didn't have to stop and walk. And this is a hard course. It starts out going up hill! and there are 2 more hills after that. And it ended at the outdoor track and I let my kids run the lap around the track with me. They thought that was pretty cool to run with Mom.

randomness

I hate going so long with out posting. That little chubba wubba went to her 4 month (4 1/2) check up and is the 90% for weight! More of her to love and I'm all about that. You just can't squeeze a 25% percent baby like you can a 90%. And you should see her thighs! Love em. She brings so much happiness to my day. So glad we have her. And her big sis is pretty amazing too. That girl is so spiritual and I love it because she is such a good example to me. It sounds so cliche' but I'm fo reals yo.
Lately I've realized I want to be a more service oriented person. I have a friend that is just naturally always serving people. I recently noticed it and decided I want to be like her when I grow up. I think it is an important trait to have and it also feels good to serve someone.
another friend with a great site
check it out y'all
On Wednesday, my step dad went in for an MRI because he had had a stiff neck for way too long and it ended up being a tumor. They took him into surgery right away because it was so close to his spine. They had to cut away at his 5th vertebrae to remove it and replaced it with a metal plate. After his surgery, he was recovering in the ICU when his whole body was numb and he was paralyzed. His blood was not clotting and he had a hematoma at the point of the surgery and it was pressing on his spine. They took him in right away. About 8 hours after the surgery, it happened again! Very stressful. After the 3rd surgery he was able to clench his fists and wiggle his toys. phew. The 3rd surgery was Thursday at 5:00 and so far things are looking better. He is still in the ICU with tubes everywhere but I'm trying to be optimistic. Everything happen so suddenly that it makes you realize how precious life is. There isn't time to hold a grudge or waste your time judging others. We need to spend our time serving and uplifting each other.
On a completely opposite note, a friend from church came over today with his tiller and tilled my back yard. I cannot wait to start a garden. This will be my first ever garden and I'm excited to see some food growing in my backyard. I'm growing all the essentials for Ryan's yummy salsa and if all goes well, our Halloween pumpkins will come from our backyard. As long as I can keep my kids out of it!! I really want to get some chickens but I think we have to much concrete in our back yard.
And remember that link I posted about the kbyu video? The guy Arthur Brooks was on 20/20 last week talking about the economy. Pretty cool, eh? And he was actually pretty optimistic.

because I care
my mother-in-law informed me of a recent crib recall which happened to be the crib that I have. The brand is Simplicity and even if it isn't your brand, might as well goggle a recall on yours. I'd say the same for car seats.

I could use some suggestions
For those of you living in UT, do you have a restaurant you recommend? Last night Ryan and I went on a date and ate at Brick Oven, the food was just mediocre. Waste of calories and kind of a waste of money. (sorry Teresa!) We usually eat at like Red Robin or Los Hermanos, which I don't like the later either. (again Teresa, I'm sorry!) And that is because we have different taste in food and can't agree. Just wondering if you know of a jewel of a place you recommend. Thanks and I'll let you know if we end up giving it a try.
And by the way, Brick Oven is in the heart of Provo, right by BYU for those of you who didn't know, and last night I realized I am so glad I don't associate with BYU ites on a daily basis anymore. I sometimes find BYU students nauseating.

sorry, the link doesn't take you to the talk. It's by Arthur Brooks, under "forums" and the title is "Why Giving Matters"
