Dont mess with my kids, I don't take it lightly. The dog that bit Abbey came home today from the pound. whaaaaat? Number one, you didn't voluntarily put it down? and number two, the HOA said they were not allowing the dog back into the community and apparently sent them a notice telling them that.
So their son comes over today and says he got his dog back today and I said (in a nutshell) "really? I thought the HOA said the dog could never come back." Well he ran home crying. Yes, I did receive some satisfaction in making a little kid cry. Then as Cloe is starting her piano practice his parents come to my door telling me how the police said it was okay for the dog to come back and that I made their son cry. This was my response to them questioning me on why I made him cry:
"Didn't the HOA send you a letter saying the dog was no longer allowed in the neighborhood because it bit a kid?"
"no, we haven't but we're adults so can you please speak to us about things and not our son because he's at home crying?"
"*sigh*........... Abbey has been in the ER for now a total of about 8 hours, she's had to be put to sleep twice, the first time left her throwing up all night and now she has a scar on her face forever. To be honest, I don't care at all if your son is crying over a stupid dog. Sorry, I REALLY don't care. YOu have been far from sympathetic about what has happened to Abbey and I'm not to the point where I can really be kind to you guys. " *I shrugged and gave a look like "sorry"*
"well the police told us we need to pay the medical bills, do you have the bills."
"no, we haven't received the bill yet but did it really take the police to tell you that you need to take responsibility for what has happened? Why ARE you keeping the dog?"
no real answer was given after that and they went on their oblivious ignorant little way.

Way to stand up for your little girl. I bet your blood was boiling during that conversation/confrontation. I can't believe they had the guts to come and get mad about making their son cry. I am glad they are going to pay the medical bills.
DAMN DOG...DAMN NEIGHBORS!
Wow. Some people have a lot of nerve! What jerks for not even coming to apologize. And, I like how they said, "well the police told us we need to pay the medical bills, do you have the bills?" Like they weren't really going to mention anything unless you ask them to. I bet you could put in some sort of complaint with the city or something... Or maybe you should get Gephart!
Why are some people even allowed into this world. I would get on the phone with the police and the HOA and get the damn dog out of there. I'm so sorry that you have to deal with that. Way to go mama bear!!
Go Courtney! Go Courtney! Uh Huh! Go Courtney!
Good for you for speaking your mind! I'm the person who would say that in my head, but not to the person! What a tough situation!!
i love the momma bear side to you- go court
Love IT!!! Not the part about the dog biting your sweet daughter but the part with where you said what most people want to say in this situation but wouldn't. Good luck!
kick that damn dog in the face.
Trashy people!
grrrrr... I can't believe they are trying to keep that dog! Next time I need to "tell it" to someone, I am going to call you over.
Seriously?!? What is with people? Maybe they should be friends with the people who had the dog that got Finnegan! They could start a "what not to do" group. I am sorry Courtney and I am sorry you have to live by them...I hope they move soon!
You should contact a lawyer. The lawyer will no doubt advise you to file a claim against the dog owner's homeowners insurance policy. They owe you for more than medical bills. They owe you for future medical care, possible plastic surgery, and pain and suffering. Seriously, call a lawyer ASAP.
The NERVE!!! That's exasperating. BUT, good for you:)
thanks for the support friends!!!
I mentioned to my HOA that I would be taking the dogs life into my own hands but for criminal reasons, they advised me against it.
Anonymous, I have an appointment on Tuesday with my attorney :)
Glad you're calling a lawyer. This family needs to step up. When I was six our dog jumped up on and scratched the mail lady. Right after it happened-seconds later she said to me at age six"Your dog scratched me and I am going to sue your family." I was six. I cried my eyes out and when my dad came home that very night he had the dog put down. We all thought she was over reacting because the scratch wasn't that bad, but - my dad said, "Humans come before animals."
I got over it and so will this kid.
wow, i can't believe how clueless they are. actually, i can believe that they are that clueless because the world is filled with people like that. our test is figuring out how to live with them. i wish i knew someone that could make the dog "disappear" but alas, i don't. i'm so sorry that you even have to deal with all this crap. i hope you find a good lawyer!
Wow, just wow. I probably would've done the same. I can also guarantee that dog would not be alive if it came home next door after biting one of our children. Isaac's even more uber-protective and far more vigilante than I am.
Wow, those people really have some nerve! I'm so glad you stood up to them and said that stuff. I probably would have thrown some profanity in the mix, but good for you. I wish the dog would have been killed. I would talk to the HOA too and try to get it gone.
Oliver was attacked by a dog back in October and the owner's had the nerve to tell me it was my fault because I was a negligent parent. Those were my dearest relatives that have since disowned me because I told them they were wrong. It is really hard for me to supress how I feel about people who put dogs before people. I am pretty sure the HOA can fine them for keeping the dog too. Good for you for going to a lawyer!
